Usually it’s a nickname for katherine/kaitlin/kathleen (i’m a [name_f]katherine [/name_f] myself!) i wouldn’t consider it dated by any means, but i’m. She loves the name [name_f]kate[/name_f], but wonders if she should put [name_f]katherine[/name_f] on the birth certificate, as she also loves.

If you use the name [name]kate [/name] (prefer [name]kate [/name] to [name]katherine [/name], [name]katie [/name], [name]katelin [/name], etc) i think that you should use a 2 syllable mn or perhaps a 3 syllable. We will call her [name]katie [/name]. I’m attached to the name, as it is a family name, and want to continue to honor it.
